Career Maps

Career maps show the various roles in an organization and the progression from entry level roles to senior roles. They also show possible cross-over points for people looking for a change.  Each role from entry level staff up to management positions has its own learning path.  Job roles have job descriptions and statements of the skills por competencies possessed by someone qualified to do that role.

Learning Paths

Learning paths are recommended sequences of training and upskilling to equip learners to master the key industry skills in their role. They help individuals plan a development strategy for themselves or to help managers and executives plan development strategies for their departments or company. Select any of the business areas below to view a typical career path for that area and drill down into the most appropriate learning paths for your needs.

Most learning paths include a mixture of classes, reading and downloadable resources including tools to use in the job role, where appropriate.  Many include exercises to practice skills. Learning paths for more senior job roles may inlcude live instructor web-based classes.

New hires to the company, who join at a higher level than induction, may benefit from studying learning paths more junior to their new role, if they haven't had similar training before, or equivalent work experience in their previous roles.

These job roles are generic to retailing or consumer goods manufacturing and individual company circumstances may differ. You can edit these learning paths to create the ideal solution for your company and we will be pleased help with this if you need our input.

These learning paths provide a major benefit in that they equip a learner with the industry and process knowledge to perform in that role.  They can be studied while working in the role or while working in a more junior role to improve promotion prospects.

They can also help individuals transition from one career path to another.

Martec learning paths focus on industry processes, trends, key performance indicators, associated technology and related items, because these are our strengths.  Any company will also need to include other so called soft or horizontal skills at different levels including, for example, communication skills, people management, time management, leadership, change management, critical thinking and so on.  There are many other companies that can provide training in these areas, which you can also include in your training plans, where appropriate.  We are happy to work alongside your chosen suppliers in these areas.

Comment

Martec’s consumer goods suite of training focuses on supply chain, finance, sales and marketing, trade promotions, direct to consumer and the interactions between consumer goods company departments and their opposite numbers in retail and wholesale. It does not include content on any aspect of manufacturing. However, the Retail and Consumer Goods Industry Knowledge Bank does include a signifcant amount of content on manufacturing. Hence learners can use a mixture of interactive e-learning and reading to meet a wider set of needs.

The same is true of all the segments we train for.
