Retail Financials & IT

The Retail Finance Department has people at a variety of level who need education in various financial topics depending on their seniority.  The Introduction to Retail Financials class gives a detailed description of a retail profit and loss acccount, what is included in the different elements and guidance about the biggest cost areas.  It also includes information on retail balance sheets and cash flow analysis, plus an overview of how the capital expenditure (CAPEX) approval process works.  Analyzing Retail KPIs covers essential knowledge for analyzing financial and trading statements.

The Consumer Goods and Retail Supply Chain gives a good overview of the end to end supply chain and where the interfaces and interations ooccur.  These are developed further in the Consumer Goods and Retail Channel Interactions class.  Quite a lot of these interactions involve the finance function.  With this in mind, we have included the Consumer Goods Financials and KPI's class.

Martec does not provide IT training classes, but it does provide training to IT Departments.  In our case, it involves the software development teams and project management groups that oversee IT projects, when they need to understand key retail business processes in order to perform their project roles as thoroughly and responsively as possible. In these cases, the classes they need to study are determined by whether the projects they have to implement are buying and merchandising related, store operations based, or similar, since their key people will generally need the same level of knowledge as the retail colleagues they work with.
